Ryegrass Returns to P&G
On December 15th Ryegrass returns to the Pumps & Grinds Coffeehouse
in Duvall, WA. This was the venue for the band's first gig
earlier this year, and we are looking forward to coming back and
showing how far the band has progressed in the last few months.
See the schedule page for details.
Ryegrass Welcomes John Burke on Fiddle
After
performing through the early summer as a quartet, Ryegrass is pleased
to announce that John Burke has joined the group on fiddle.
John is a long-time resident of the Pacific Northwest and is well-known
in the area for his work on both banjo and fiddle.
Rather than embarrass John by listing his extensive resume here,
we'll let this picture do the talking, (and hope John doesn't browse
this far on the web site...)
Twice the Fun
Following in the footsteps of "single-mic" groups like
The Del McCoury Band and John Reischman and the Jaybirds, Ryegrass
is going from one stage microphone to two. Since a fiddle
projects most of its sound upwards, unlike other bluegrass instruments,
the extra mic will allow us to pick up John's fiddle even when he
is not front and center to play a break.
Ryegrass Newsletter
You'll forgive us if we've concentrated on rehearsals and have
let the promised newsletter slide for a while, but we really do
plan to get something out. Really. Time to practice
those delegation skills...
